Sony Ericsson launches Radio phones

Sony Ericsson, one of the most prominent handset manufacturers, has recently announced the release of two new handsets, the R300 and the R306, both of which should be primarily radio feature focused mobile phones. The price has not yet been announced, but it ought to be cheap. Sony is already a big name in the music oriented segment of the mobile phone market, with its immensely popular W series of phones. Now they have come up with an inexpensive alternative for people who either don’t need an MP3 player in their handset or can’t afford one, with the R300. It has a basic 128X160 pixel resolution, a VGA camera, WAP browser and Bluetooth connectivity. The handset also has a large speaker on the back, which is common between the R300 and the R306

A basic tri-band phone, it is basically meant for youngsters and college students who want entertainment on the move. If you ask me, Sony has got a very smart strategy to capture the youth market who don’t have much cash to spend but want a sufficiently stylish handset. Coming to the R306, it’s the better equipped between the two and is bound to be priced higher than the R300. The R600 comes with a 1.3 Megapixel camera and an audio enhancement key added that would boost the radio sound via the headset or the embedded oversized speaker. Coming to the point, Sony Ericsson has lined these two beauties for all to appreciate. Only time will tell if they withstand the test of time.
